Golden Cenarth

£9.75

Pungent, with a nutty aftertaste

Wow!  The stunning Golden Cenarth is a pungent, savoury-tasting  organic cheese with a slightly nutty aftertaste.  Washed in brine, the pale orange rind  has a unique texture and flavour.  The centre is soft, creamy and smooth.  Golden Cenarth minis come in an individual wooden cheese box, making each one perfect for baking.

Created when cheesemaker Carwyn discovered a distinctive orange-red culture growing on some moist Caerfilli cheeses, he allowed one cheese to age developing a soft rind and an unmistakable pungency.

Supreme Champion at the British Cheese Awards 2010.

Best Dairy Product at the Soil Association Awards 2010.

Caws Cenarth Cheese

Caws Cenarth is a family business started in 1987 by Gwnfor and Thelma Adams.

Built on a heritage of six generations of cheese making, Caws Cenarth quickly built a reputation for its creamy, fresh-flavoured Caerfilli. Now run by Carwyn Adams, Caws Cenarth represents the best in Welsh artisan cheesemaking, with the original Caerfilli being joined by a stunning range of award-winning organic cheeses.

Based in the lovely valley of the river Cych, Caws cenarth cheeses are made using the milk produced by cows grazing the rich pastures of the area. Each batch of cheese varies slightly depending on the mix of grass and flowers in the cows’ diet.

The oldest established prodcuer of Welsh Farmhouse Caerfilli, Caws Cenarth under the guidance of Carwyn have added three new cheeses to the range: the Brie-like Perl Wen, Perl Las- a creamy blue veined cheese, and Golden Cenarth- a washed rind cheese with a powerful flavour. In  2010, the rind washed Golden Cenarth was awarded Best Dairy Product at the Soil Association Awards, and Supreme Champion at the British Cheese Awards
